Experience

Prior to opening his own law office, Attorney Jerry E. Attanasio worked on the criminal defense team at Moynahan and Minnella, LLC for three years where he gained valuable criminal trial experience. He then took these skills and applied them to his own firm.

Attanasio has represented clients in many notable high profile cases
that have resulted in intense media scrutiny.

Good Morning America, The New York Times, CBS, and the New Haven Register covered the well publicized case of David Pollitt, represented by Attorney Attanasio.
The convicted rapist served his prison term of 24 years, and upon release, planned to move into the home of his family in Southbury, Connecticut. Neighbors tried to prevent Pollitt from moving into the community, even though he was outfitted with a monitoring devise on his ankle, was placed under house arrest indefinitely, and was under close supervision by law enforcement. Pollitt was placed on probation for five years after his release from prison. Mobs of concerned residents and a sea of camera crews gathered in Southbury to protest. Angry citizens called upon Governor Jodi Rell and Attorney General Richard Blumenthal to delay Pollitt’s release. Attanasio fought for the family’s right to provide a home to Pollitt. He had completed his sentence, and was entitled to be released. Judge Susan B. Handy of Superior Court agreed with Attanasio’s plea and dismissed the requests.

The George Bierce case was an intense two week trial in Waterbury, Connecticut in 2008. A Prospect resident, Bierce was charged with 10 counts of criminal possession of a fire arm and 10 counts of violation of a protective order. Bierce and his wife were in the middle of a heated and intense divorce. Bierce owned two homes. He and his son lived in one house, and it was decreed that his wife live in the other. In 1986, Bierce owned a dozen rifles but his wife hid them away. Years later, the son planted the guns in George Bierce’s home and called the police. During the trial, it came out that the son set up his own father, knowing there was a protective order against him. Attanasio fought to bring the truth of this family dispute to the surface, and after five hours of jury deliberation, all charges were dropped. Bierce was declared not guilty on all 20 counts.

In August of 2007 Attorney Attanasio defended Dr. Aram Agadjanian in a case that received state-wide media attention. The 47 year-old Dentist maintains a practice in Danbury, Connecticut called New England Dental. Agadjanian was charged with third-degree assault against a patient during a tooth extraction. Attanasio fought for the doctor, explaining that Agadjanian’s actions were a form of self-protection, a defensive move after the patient “grabbed a scalpel and went after him.” The 16 year-old patient was charged with criminal mischief, breach of peace, and threatening after Agadjanian punched him, according to Danbury police. Attorney Attanasio was successful in working a plea bargain that led to the dismissal of all charges against the Danbury dentist.
